About.

Me? OK.  I grew up in what was then a very small town, tight knit community, now a very sought after, large, prestigious lake community. I moved away when I was 18, and have looked back many times. I miss a lot about life in my hometown, but over the last 12 years, we have made our life here.

In June of 2006, my roommate decided that her friend and I would be an awesome couple, so she set us up. We clashed as a couple but made great friends. Over the next 6 months I had my eye on him, watching the way he cared for us girls in our circle of friends. That fall, he was sick and didn't shave his face for a week.  And he just bought a house.  I found myself making meals for him and finding ourselves lost in conversation.  He asked me on our first date a week before I was taking my nursing boards.  We started dating and I began my career as Registered Nurse, with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

He was nearly everything I ever dreamed of having in a husband.  Almost exactly 10 months later, he asked me to marry him, and almost exactly 5 months after that we got married.

Two years later, just as I was rounding the corner of becoming a seasoned nurse with a career that was ready to take off, move forward, and move up, and I found out I was pregnant.  I decided to put my career, that had a huge amount of business potential, on hold and pursue my true lifelong dream, and be a stay at home mom. About 4 weeks later, we saw 2 heartbeats at our first ultrasound. The.greatest.moment.of.my.life.

Parenting and raising twins has been the most difficult job I have ever loved. Nothing else I've ever done in life measures up to being a mother.  Our life is nowhere near perfect.  I started this blog to chronicle our journey through the Paleo lifestyle, about 2 years ago.  It has turned into a chronicle of our life as a whole.  I write realistically. I want this blog to be a place where you can come and think "oh, thank goodness, someone can relate".  I don't find it necessary to paint a pretty picture over the truth.  I want you to feel refreshed and encouraged, inspired and comforted when you've been here.

As for me, outside of being a mother and wife, I love photography , I LOVE LOVE LOVE to write. It is my favorite, it is therapeutic, it is my thing. Truth be known, I've always loved to write.  I love exercise, currently my obsession is hot yoga. I could totally spend a full day at the spa with one of my favorite girlfriends and some wine.  I love my girlfriends and could.not.do.this.life.without.them.  I love to welcome people into our home and host parties, supper, happy hour, etc.  We travel very often.  I always have been a traveler, something my dad instilled in me at a very early age.  I can't imagine life without travel. I need the change and refreshment and break in routine that it brings to my life.

In the south we only have two seasons.  In the winter you can find me under a soft blanket, by our fire, and with a glass of bold red wine. Preferably with my PJs on, Chinese take out, by my husband, watching a scary movie, and hazelnut coffee scented candles burning.  In the summer you can find me by our creek, on our hammock, watching my babies play, the ducks swim, and the heron fly.

I am a sucker for bad reality TV and good retail therapy (but I NEVER pay full price for anything). I haven't started a day without coffee since I was 16.  I love going on dates, weekends away with my husband, red wine, sushi, all things vintage and old fashioned/antiquey (think pre-1940's).  I am an extremist.  My pajama-clad babies, carrying blankets and teddies, are my favorite.  Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.  This is our Dixie Lullaby.
